One of the pleasures of walking around Heidelberg is spotting the beautiful architectural details on buildings as you pass by. Many of the apartment blocks in the area near where we live were built around the turn of the 20th Century and have a strong Art Nouveau/Jugendstil aesthetic. On my way to and from the local markets this morning I took the following photos of some of my favourite decorations. I hope to do more posts like this over the course of the year in order to share the sights with you, and keep a record of this lovely city.
- Stone apartment block with gold detailing
- Close-up of gold details
- Striking red and white building
- Close-up of the owl
- The rose red stone of Heidelberg
